Think critically and develop an argument on any three of the following topics.
1) Feminist reading of Harmione’s character in Harry Potter: How do the character portrayal of Harmione and other female characters support feminist discourse?
2) Discourse on the purity of Blood and Harry Potter: How do the novels play with the thesis of pure blood (Master Race) giving an anti-thesis by belonging protagonists to half-blood / Mud-blood? What sort of synthesis is sought in this discourse in Harry Potter series?
Pure blood for Wizards and Witches who have no muggle blood or muggle born. They are supremacists , weasly , potter and lang bottoms are old pure blood families. Half- blood for those Wizards and Witches who have magical and muggle ancestors in their family trees.Half- blood inferior to pure blood. The malfoy family, Voldemort and Severus Snape belongs it. Harry himself is a Half- blood, his father married to muggle born Lily.
Muggle born is the term applied to those whose parents were muggles. Malfoy used the term mudblood to insult Hermione.
Intolerance and prejudices based on the purity of person ‘ s in wizarding world. Squib always there second part. " Mudblood " highly offensive term implying that the individual has dirty and inferior blood, don't deserve magic.
3) Confronting reality by reading fantasy: How does reading Harry Potter make us confront the reality of our everyday existence?
In the world of fantasy J.K Rowling highlights some serious issues of the real contemporary society like class conflict, politics of power, racism, corruption, injustice system etc. She has covered each reality with fantastical world but if someone looks deep down into it then they will find the hidden message. Rowling books are not conventional fairy tales, her success show the continued power of the form and the archetypes that those long-ago Germans perfected. Harry's situation contains many of the inchoate fears of childhood, not just the parental abandonment fear. Harry is skinny and weak and wears glasses patched together with tape, and in this sense he stand in for the vulnerability, the powerlessness that children feel. The rest of the story shows Harry assuming his true identity, gaining the courage to overcome obstacles and winning a battle against the adversaries of his ancestors.
4) Self-Help culture and Harry Potter: How does it stand by an argument that Self-Help Culture serves as a tool of social control: it sooths political unrest . . . one blames oneself for not getting better off is society and remains in one's own pursuit of self-invention, blaming oneself for the failure rather than the systems?
The characters of Harry Potter series are struggling to gain something. In a way all are helping themselves with some ideologies. Harry is treated very badly in his guardian home. He learns to stay strong in awkward situations in life. His life battle is fought by himself without any kind of support. When he left all alone in the dangerous situation then with his own power he fought with the death eaters. There was one scene in the last part when Sirius is killed then Harry saves his body and himself also from the Dementors. Same is the case with other characters like Hermione, Ron who are constantly struggling for their identity. Hermione wants to show her talent that she is best from all the pure blood students. She is intelligent and with her knowledge she defeats everyone and in this way help herself. The children or even adults also learn things from Potter series about self help culture.
5) The discourse of Power and Politics in Harry Potter: How does Ministry of Magic control the resistance? How do they prosecute the ‘Other’?
Rowling has presented the power dynamic through the character of Voldrmort and Minister , Pure blood people , Umbridge. Voldemort wants to become powerful in the world. Because of this power leads him towards evil. The power to rule over the world and become immortal. The powerful justice system of Wizarding world is also doing injustice by giving death sentence to Buckbeak. It all happens because Buckbeak beats Draco because Draco insulting him. It shows that how power can be injustice towards animal. In later part the new rules and regulations came into the school of Hogwards. The power of deciding things came in the hands of Umbridge. However , she misusing this power by controlling and changing the education system. Whoever trying to raise their voice against her he will be punished by her. It shows that power always tries to controlling over others. It shows the power dynamics in the politics. Power of politics which shows that power can do anything on the name of reformation. The conflict between Voldrmort and Harry can be also seen as conflict of evil power and Good power.

9) The theme of Love and Death: How does Harry Potter make use of age old theme of Love of the dead as well as living as protecting armour? How does Harry Potter deal with the concept of Death as something inevitable?
Love & Death...
Love plays a crucial role in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," as well as all of the remaining books in the series. Rowling demonstrates the power of love from the very beginning of the narrative by explaining that Harry's ability to survive Voldemort's killing curse is a direct result of his mother's love. By sacrificing her own life to save that of her son, Lily Potter gave Harry an magical form of protection that shielded him from Voldemort's curse and nearly destroyed the dark wizard. As Professor Dumbledore asserts, Voldemort is incapable of understanding love, particularly in comparison to the strength of his own dark power, and so he was taken entirely by surprise when it came to Lily's sacrifice.
Near the end of the book, Professor Dumbledore tells Harry, "Death is but the next great adventure." Rowling does not describe death as something to be feared or dreaded, but rather a part of the natural cycle of life that should be embraced as part of an individual's humanity. Death can also be viewed as something beautiful. For example, by sacrificing her own life for Harry, Lily Potter gave him the wondrous protection of her love and a chance at a life free from Voldemort's tyranny. Her death also provided Harry with purpose in his life and the determination to stop Voldemort from harming other innocent people.
10) Moral and Philosophical reading of Harry Potter: How does the concept of ‘evil breeds evil’ unfold in Harry Potter? What is the significance of Harry being one of the Horcruxes?Love & Death...

Here it present the moral reading of text with philosophical way. How evil breeds evil and how Voldemort shows his power in Harry's body it shows the power of evil person on kind human.
Voldemort have fight with Harry is also an example of moral and philosophical view that they fight with each other but can't defeat each other because they have same power. Harry thinks like Voldemort as evil way it present the effect of evil power. Harry Potter's view for Snape that he will gone to do harm with him but here Harry's view is wrong for Snape which shows the effect of evil in good.
11) Christianity and Harry Potter Series: How many times Harry and his friends visit Church? how often in the moments of crisis when they are helpless, clueless, they pray to God for Grace or Mercy? How many times God's Grace saves them from the Devil Lord Voldemort? Does J.K. Rowling use Christianity at any level in the entire Harry Potter series?
J. K. Rowling has denied the existence of God or Religion in her books. May be these all are the reasons why some Christians are not happy with the books and they are asking people to not to read it. They believe that this books are celebrating Satanism. Because magic and witchcraft are symbols of Satan worshiping in the Christianity.
